Dr. Schaeffer graduated from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and has spent over four decades at the cutting edge of endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery. He has helped develop new technologies and techniques for minimally invasive sinus procedures, trained the next generation of head and neck surgeon specialists, and served as President of the Long Island Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He founded this virtual second opinion service to extend his expertise beyond Long Island — giving patients nationwide access to unbiased, subspecialist guidance before making life-changing surgical decisions.
Dr. Schaeffer was the first surgeon to perform balloon sinus dilation in New York State, and the first to perform the procedure in-office in the entire northeastern United States.
He developed "Endoscopic Liposhaving" and has utilized 3D endoscopic technology for skull base tumors in both adult and pediatric patients, staying at the forefront of minimally invasive ENT care.
